Meat is also rich in zinc, niacin, and vitamin B6. It is also important to point out the essential role of protein in the body. The diet provides essential amino acids that are needed for the production of enzymes and hormones. Lack of protein in diets would lead to muscle loss and weakness. Meat was consumed in winter to keep them warm during harsh conditions.
The white food group consists of dairy products. Dairy products are a good source of calcium. Calcium is essential for bone health and prevention of osteoporosis. Lack of calcium in diets would lead to weak bone health which leads to low bone density.

What are the benefits of fruits that are lacking in the Mongolian diet?
Fruits are rich in vitamins that your body needs. One of the important vitamins is included in vitamin C, an essential vitamin for the normal functioning of the immune system. Since the diet is low in fruits, it does not provide vitamin C in its essence.
Lack of vitamin C would compromise the immune system and would lead to low immunity. This increases the risk of infections and sickness. Fruits are also rich in potassium which balances the blood pressure.
Fruits are also rich in antioxidants that help protect the cells from aging by fighting off free radicals. Fruits also contain fiber. Fiber is essential for bowel movements and the prevention of constipation.
What are the benefits of vegetables that are lacking in the Mongolian diet?
The diet is also lacking in vegetables. Not eating enough vegetables would lead to a multiple of health issues. Not eating enough vegetable cause vitamin deficiencies of folate, vitamin A, and Vitamin E.
Also lack of minerals such as potassium that can be found in vegetables. Lack of these vitamins and minerals causes irregular heart and electrolyte imbalance due to lack of potassium intake. Potassium has a role in muscle contraction, hydration, and blood pressure regulation.
