What are the best-tasting diet sodas?

In this article, we are going to discuss “the best tasting diet sodas”. I will also include some nutritional information about them and the effects of artificial sweeteners on our taste buds.

What are the best-tasting diet sodas?

Diet sodas differ from regular sodas by the sweetener they contain. Diet sodas contain different types of sweeteners, yet the most famous one is aspartame. Some sweeteners leave an aftertaste, thus it makes the soda taste bitter.

Some of the best-tasting sodas I will be discussing are below.

Pepsi Zero Sugar or Pepsi Max

Pepsi zero sugar is also a soda with no calories or sugar in them.  The drinkers of Pepsi zero enjoyed the refreshing flavor and the aftertaste that comes after. They even said it tasted better than coke zero.

Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi

Containing no calories, no fat, no carbs, no protein, and most importantly no sugar in it.  It has a refreshing cherry scent that will make you drink the whole can at once. It has a sweetness from cherries added to it. It contains 35 milligrams of sodium. It is sweetened with aspartame which is safe for consumption.

Coke zero sugar

Coke zero sugar is another tasty soda without added sugar in it. Some reported that the flavor is not as fake as many sodas have. They even compared it to real coke and found similarities in the taste.

How do sweeteners affect our taste buds?

Sweeteners are known to be much sweeter than regular sugar. It is 200 to 400 times sweeter. This means it over stimulates our taste buds. This can lead to making it seem that other natural sweet things seem less sweet or potent. Fruits or even vegetables would seem flavorless.

Having artificial sweeteners for a long time would change the way you taste other things. This would alter your whole tasting experience. One study found that artificial sweeteners desensitize taste buds.

This makes fruits taste not as sweet as they used to be. It makes the tongue so used to high sweetness, that it compares the level of sweetness of any food taken with the artificial sweetener. Any food tasting less sweet is not satisfactory. This would ruin the way you enjoy your favorite fruit or vegetable.

Artificial sweeteners do not activate our food reward area in the brain which makes us eat more sweets and gain weight. Sweet taste receptors are activated by so many chemical compounds like sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose, maltose), artificial sweeteners, and sweet amino acids and proteins
