Popcorn is rich in fiber. Three cups of air-popped popcorn contain 93 calories, 3 grams of protein, 18.6 grams of carbs, 3.6 grams of fiber, 0.2 grams of sugar, and 1.1 grams of fat.

Air-popped popcorn has no added oil in it which makes it a healthier choice. It is lower in calories as well. As long as you do not add butter, sugar, or excess salt. Popcorn is a healthy snack to have while you are on a diet. It is fulfilling thanks to its high fiber content.

Adding so much butter to popcorn would increase the fat content in it, especially saturated fat between 20 to 57 grams.

Saturated fat has been linked to increases in cholesterol, especially harmful LDL cholesterol. Saturated fat intake should be under 10% of your total calories per day.

It also increases the calorie intake as well. More calories and more fat would pile up the pounds. 

Excess salt is not healthy as well. Added salt to popcorn in excess would cause some health

Added sugar to popcorn makes the snack unhealthy.  Caramel popcorn contains a lot of sugar and additives. Sugar would cause a variety of health problems. If consumed excessively, it would cause addiction since it lights up parts of the brain that would make you feel pleasure. 

Sugar shifts your mood as well, it provides food for bacteria in your teeth, and this causes cavities. Sugar causes inflammation in the body, thus leading to inflammation in the joints, and walls of the arteries. Added sugar would increase your weight, and increased weight increase the risk of type 2 diabetes among other health issues.
